The Youth Theatre Island Exchange Project
Presented by Second Storey Youth Theatre and Theatre Newfoundland Labrador Youth Theatre

Who are we? Where are we? And… why are we here?

The next generation of theatre makers from two islands ‘on the edge of the earth’ will take to the stage as part of The Youth Theatre Island Exchange Project a collaboration between Launceston-based Second Storey Youth Theatre and Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Theatre based in Corner Brook. SSYT and TNL have both formed ensembles of exceptional young performers (aged between 14-18 years) and will be creating and presenting a new theatre work that reflects their sense of island culture and connection to home.

The Youth Theatre Island Exchange Project
draws on strong connections that have been steadily developing between young artists from Tasmanian and Newfoundland over the past decade, through Ten Days on the Island, artistic research residencies and other creative dialogue. The project will include workshops, performances and a pass-the-hat-round show.

This is youth theatre at its most powerful, making connections and empowering the artists and voices of the future.
